How to do Plant Embroidery - Online Workshop

  • Tuesday, June 23, 2020
  • 6:30 PM 9:00 PM 18:30 21:00
  • Google Calendar ICS

Fancy adding some greenery to your home without the upkeep? Or branching out with your plant collection? This online workshop will guide you step by step of learning how to create gorgeous 3-D embroidered plants, with embroidery specialist and TFL founder Melanie Kyles. The session will be taught via Zoom so you still have the benefit of live tuition and feedback that you would typically receive in The Fashion Lab, as well as having the opportunity to meet and connect with others who you’ll be learning alongside.

 What you’ll learn:

  •  How to prepare your fabric, design and embroidery hoop

  • How to use embroidery thread

  • How to create a variety of hand embroidery stitches suited to this project

  • How to finish your hoop off ready to display

Recommended supplies:

  •  Embroidery hoop

  • Woven fabric (fabric from duvet covers, cotton shirts or denim are all ideal if you don’t have your own fabric supply)

  • Embroidery needle (larger eye, sharp point)

  • Embroidery floss

  • Pen, pencil or fabric marker

  • Your favourite drink or soft beverage (optional)

  • Access to a web monitor/mic (mobile, tablet or laptops are all ideal) and decent internet connection

Once you have purchased your ticket, you will receive an email with a custom URL link to the event, which you can then add to your calendar. Emails will be sent out an hour before the event is due to start, which will include your Zoom meeting number and password. Be sure to log in 5 minutes before the event is due to start, as this can help avoid technical difficulties that may delay your sign in.

Tickets are one person per ticket.

You will have the option to use video and audio to participate, which is encouraged but not essential…it’s great to see everyone’s faces and it can also help to make sure you’re on the right track when the development of your embroidery is visible!
