Take your tired old jeans to the next level in this mindful sewing session, where you will learn about the Japanese art of ‘boro’, an age-old art of mending textiles that originated in the 17th Century and is exhibited in museums and on catwalks alike.
You will receive a square of quality remnant denim to sample the technique and choose from a selection of patching materials and specialist sashiko thread. You will be guided in mapping out your decorative stitches, attaching your patching fabric securely, and building up running stitches to create a distinctive, original, and resilient mended patch! Alternatively, you are welcome to bring along a denim (or thick cotton) garment to work straight onto. Suitable for 12+ years, and ideal for beginners!
